Affiliate disclosure
How Coldkeep makes money, and the wall between that and what we recommend. Last reviewed September 2026.
Coldkeep is reader-supported. Some of the outbound links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you click one and then buy, the manufacturer may pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. That is how we fund the research. It is also the thing most likely to bias a review site, so this page explains exactly how we keep it from biasing ours.
How the links work
Every affiliate link on Coldkeep goes to the manufacturer's own official store — never a marketplace or reseller — and each is marked with the web standard rel="sponsored nofollow". We currently have or seek affiliate relationships with reputable hardware-wallet makers including Ledger, Trezor, Tangem, SafePal, ELLIPAL and Keystone. We are not paid to include a device, to rank it higher, or to soften a criticism.
The wall between money and judgement
Commissions differ between brands, and we treat that as a conflict to be managed, not followed. As one concrete example, the device we rank first pays a higher commission than a device we rank below it — the ranking follows the security architecture, and would be identical if every payout were zero. You can read the reasoning openly on our best hardware wallets page. Where the honest recommendation is a product that pays us nothing at all, we say so and recommend it anyway.
No trademarks, no impersonation
Coldkeep is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer. Brand names and logos are used only nominatively, to identify the products we compare, and remain the property of their owners. We never present ourselves as a manufacturer's official store or support channel.
Not financial advice
Nothing on Coldkeep is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and buying through our links does not create any advisory relationship. Hardware wallets protect keys; they do not protect the value of what you hold, and crypto can lose value quickly. Always do your own research and, for decisions that matter, consult a qualified professional.
