About Coldkeep

Coldkeep is an independent guide to hardware wallets and cold storage. Our aim is narrow and useful: help people who hold crypto move it into self-custody they control, and choose a device on the security that actually matters — not on hype, and not on which brand pays the most.

How we rank

We rank on published security architecture: the presence of a certified secure element, whether the firmware is open-source and auditable, whether signing is air-gapped, how broad the coin support is, and price. Every claim is checked against manufacturer documentation and independent research and carries a date, so you can re-verify it. We do not operate a hardware security lab, so we never claim to have physically tested or broken a chip — where something can't be confirmed, we label it. What we will not do

We do not tell you which coins to buy, whether to buy crypto at all, or where prices are going — none of that is our lane, and none of it is financial advice you should take from a website. We only ever recommend mainstream, reputable devices from established manufacturers, and we will happily point to an option that pays us nothing (a good software wallet, for a small active balance) when that is the honest answer. No affiliate relationship changes a ranking or a warning.

Coldkeep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any hardware-wallet manufacturer. Product names and logos — Ledger, Trezor, Tangem, SafePal, ELLIPAL, Keystone and others — belong to their respective owners and are used here only nominatively, to identify and compare the products we write about. Some outbound links to manufacturers are affiliate links; we explain exactly how that works, and how it is kept separate from our editorial judgement, in our affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

Specs and prices in this niche change constantly, and we would rather be corrected than wrong. If you spot something out of date or inaccurate, please tell us and we will check it and update the page with a fresh date.
